Mykonos Restaurant Reservations: A Guide

Mykonos restaurant reservations work differently in July than they do in May, and knowing the rhythm of the season is more useful than any single rule. The island fills and empties by the week, sometimes by the day, and a table that is easy to get on a Tuesday can be gone by Friday. Here is what we see from our own booking book, season after season.
How far ahead should I book?
For July and August, book as soon as your travel dates are fixed, ideally several weeks out. For June and September, a week or two ahead is usually enough. For May and the first half of October, a few days' notice is often fine, though we would still rather hear from you early than have to say no. Reservations reach us through OpenTable or by phone, and both are checked daily.
Can I still get a table without booking?
Walk-ins are welcome whenever a table is free, and on quieter nights that happens more than people expect. What a walk-in really looks like in high season is different: you may be offered a later seating, or asked to wait at the bar for twenty minutes while a table turns. It works, but it is not something to plan a special evening around. If the date matters to you, book it.
Does the time I book actually matter?
It does, though not for the reason many visitors assume. A table at 19:30 is not a lesser table, it is simply an earlier one, and the room looks and sounds different at that hour than it does at 21:30, when most Greek diners are just arriving. If you want quiet conversation and full attention from the kitchen at its freshest, early is good. If you want the room at its fullest and liveliest, book later. Neither is more correct.
What happens if I am running late?
Call or message us. Mykonos traffic into Chora can be unpredictable, especially in August, and a short delay is normal. We hold tables for a reasonable window when we know a guest is on the way; what causes trouble is silence. A two-line message on WhatsApp costs nothing and keeps your table waiting rather than released.
Does a large group need to book differently?
Yes. A table for two behaves like any other reservation, but a table for eight or more needs more notice and sometimes a different part of the room. If you are planning a birthday, a wedding-week dinner or another gathering, it is worth writing to us directly with the date and number of guests so we can prepare the right seating rather than trying to fit a group in at the last minute.
Is dinner the only service?
Yes, we open for dinner only, nightly from 19:30, across the season that runs from 1 May to around 10 October. There is no lunch service to fall back on if an evening reservation does not work out, so plan around dinner as the one sitting of the day.
What should I do if I arrive by car?
Chora itself is closed to most traffic, but we offer free valet parking for guests who drive, which removes the usual headache of finding a spot near the old town. If you are weighing up where to park more generally while you are in town, our guide to parking in Mykonos Town covers the options in more detail.
Where can I check what else is around?
If you are still deciding where to eat on a given night, our guide to where to eat in Mykonos Town lays out how an evening in Chora tends to run. For our own room, the menu and the tasting menu are the two starting points, and the FAQ answers most of the smaller questions about dress, timing and groups that come up before a booking.
